Meet the team
Post-doctoral Fellow

Dr. M. Senthilkumaran
Project Scientist (June 2025-present)
Dr. M. Senthilkumaran received his master’s and Ph.D in chemistry from the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. His doctoral research focused on CO2 capture and supramolecular chemistry. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IITI) (December 2019 to March 2021) and SSN Engineering College, Chennai (April 2021 to April 2022). After that, he worked as a Research Associate (RA) (May 2022 to June 2025) at CSIR-NCL, Pune. His postdoctoral work focused on CO2 electrochemical reduction and energy storage applications. Currently, he is working as a project scientist. He joins ESRL as Project Scientist, with current research interests mainly focusing on binders and solid polymer electrolytes for Li/Na-ion and Li-S batteries.
Dr. Prajnashree Panda obtained her Master’s degree in Chemistry from Ravenshaw University, Odisha, India, and completed her Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry at the School of Chemical Sciences, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar. Her doctoral research focused on the development of advanced materials for energy storage and conversion, with particular emphasis on water splitting and supercapacitor technologies. Her current research interests center on the design and development of high-performance cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries.

Dr. Prajnashree panda

Dr. Prajnashree Panda obtained her Master’s degree in Chemistry from Ravenshaw University, Odisha, India, and completed her Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry at the School of Chemical Sciences, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar. PhD Scholars

Tejram Dewangan
PhD Scholar (Dec. 2023-present)
Tejram Dewangan received his Master’s degree in Chemistry from Government Nagarjuna Post Graduate College of Science, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), India. He joins ESRL as PhD Scholar, where his current research work focuses on synthesizing electrode materials for sodium-ion batteries. Beyond his research pursuits, he takes interest in playing cricket and solving cube puzzles.

Nishi Keshari
PhD Scholar (July 2024-present)
Nishi Keshari holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Sant Gahira Guru University, Chhattisgarh. She joins ESRL as PhD Scholar where her current research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of advanced high-voltage cathode materials for applications in lithium-ion batteries. Her work aims to enhance the electrochemical performance, stability, and sustainability of next-generation energy storage systems. Outside of her research activities, Nishi enjoys traveling and has a strong interest in fine arts.

Kriteemoy Basu
PhD Scholar (July 2025-present)
Kriteemoy Basu completed his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He earned his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University. He pursued his M.Tech from IIT Bhilai, where his research was focused on the development and modification of the dry electrode fabrication process for lithium-ion cells, aiming to improve manufacturing efficiency and electrochemical performance. Further, he joins ESRL as PhD Scholar, with his current research interest focusing on Battery Cell Technology, its architecture and electrochemical improvements.

Shobhit Soni
PhD Scholar (July 2025-present)
Shobhit Soni obtained his master’s degree in Chemistry from Govt. Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Science and Commerce College, Bemetara, Chhattisgarh. I have qualified national-level examinations, including CSIR-NET (LS, Rank 36) and GATE, with a focus on Physical Chemistry. He joins ESRL as PhD Scholar, with his current research interests focuses on electrochemistry and energy storage materials, particularly in battery technology. I aim to investigate the physicochemical properties of novel materials for sustainable energy applications and contribute meaningfully to the field through both experimental and theoretical approaches.
M. Tech Project students

Amankant Sahu
M. tech Project (2024-26)
Aman Kant Sahu is a postgraduate researcher with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Shri Shankaracharya Technical Campus, Bhilai. His research focuses on the mechanical design of lithium-ion cylindrical cells, aiming to optimize energy density, thermal stability, and structural integrity. He also holds a patent for a military vehicle chassis designed for extreme conditions. His current work explores the integration of advanced mechanical design with next-generation battery systems for electric military applications.

Harsh Mourya
M. tech Project (2024-26)
Harsh Mourya received his B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from Government Engineering College, Jagdalpur, India, in 2023. He is currently pursuing an M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Electric Vehicle Technology (EVT). His research interests include energy storage, power quality improvement in distribution systems, and electric vehicles. His current work focuses on the estimation of state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health (SOH) of lithium-ion batteries.
M.Sc Project students

Sharma Ayushi Abhishek
M.Sc Project (2024-26)
Sharma Ayushi Abhishek completed her B.Sc. in Chemistry from Patna Women’s College, Patna University. She undertook a summer internship at IISER Pune under Prof. Satish Chandra Ogale, focusing on electrode and electrolyte fabrication for Li-ion, Na-ion, and solid polymer electrolyte batteries. She is currently working on magnesium-ion battery research.

Archit Jain
M.Sc Project (2024-26)
Archit Jain is pursuing his Master’s degree in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. His research focuses on energy storage materials, battery chemistry, and sustainable nanomaterials, with a strong interest in next-generation battery technologies and green energy solutions. Outside of academics, he enjoys playing cricket and engaging in adventurous activities.

Shristi Sahu
Project Assistant ( May 2025-present)
Shristi Sahu received her Master's degree in Material Science and Engineering from the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology – IPT, Bhubaneswar (Odisha). She joins ESRL as Research Assistant, with her current research centered on the synthesis and application of sustainable carbon materials for high-energy lithium-ion capacitors.
